The Immobilizer chip is an RFID device that carries a permanent ID #. The immobilizer in the instrument cluster is told what that number is when the key is matched to the vehicle. If you swap this chip to a new key housing you would be . Initially I put the chip on with electrician's tape. Once I was sure of the location, I glued it with Weldwood contact cement. I was able to remove the chip from my key fob but I glued it to the steering column just under the key slot. Now I can have a key made anywhere and it will start my car. I broke my RFID chip in my key while I was replacing my battery in my key fob. RFID was not secured properly and slid out while I was closing the it all up. It was already a relaxme to fob and the raid chip slid in place and I didn't ever put any glue or gum to hold it.
The replacement battery for the remote is CR2032. The immobilizer chip does not use a battery, it's a radio frequency id (RFID) chip activated by the antenna in the ignition key slot. The RFID chip range is about 1" through plastic.
