The Smart Card Operating System for Transport Application (SCOSTA) is the operating system standard that was developed in 2002 for contact smart cards on the request of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.This document specifies the operating system interface for the multi-purpose Smart Cards intended to be used in the context of the applications in India. It covers the interface details of the smart card operating system.
The SCOSTA-CL is compatible to the following ISO standards for the Smart Cards. • ISO/IEC 7816-4:2005, Identification cards – Integrated circuit cards – Part 4: Organization, security and commands for interchange • ISO/IEC 7816-5:2003, Identification cards – Integrated circuit cards – Part 5: Registration of application identifiers
