All the latest smart card news, videos, and more from the world's leading engineering magazine.Abstract: Over the past few years, the authors have tried to integrate biometrics into a smart card. In this paper, to improve error rates obtained with hand geometry biometrics and the costs with the iris recognition system, fingerprints are used. The results suggest that usefulness, security, ease of use, awareness, support, visibility, image, trailibility, social norms and satisfaction are factors which have significant and positive influence on adopting of smart card technology.
This paper aims to design a student card system for an institute using smart card technology that can be usable in the attendance, payment, and automation of class. The smart card will be used as a means for identification, automation, and payment. The main purpose behind this paper is to present the main applications of smart cards within university settings. Many uses of smart cards were identified, with the top three being personal identification, book borrowing, and library access.
